ABOUT BRAZILIAN PARAIBA TOURMALINE
Paraiba tourmaline was first discovered in the late 1980s in the Brazilian state of Paraíba. These extraordinary stones stunned the gem world with colors unlike any tourmaline previously seen, vivid neon blues and greens that appear almost electrically luminous.
The remarkable color is caused by the presence of copper within the crystal structure, a rare chemical feature that gives Paraiba tourmaline its signature glow. While copper-bearing tourmalines have since been discovered in other parts of the world, the original Brazilian material remains the rarest and most coveted among collectors.
